What does it take to Win? A Sports Science Perspective
Sounders FC Sports Science Seminar
First of all, I would like to thank the Seattle Sounders FC Sports Science Seminar organizers for the invitation to speak at such a high-level webinar.
In this presentation, I attempted to provide listeners with a snapshot of the practical importance of a sports scientist’s job in a professional team setting. In a team, Performance & Science area is a part of the whole puzzle and provide to coaches who are leading the hierarchy the necessary data in order to take the decisions. A sports scientist is a person that must have all data understanding but also to be useful for coaches on the pitch. In this presentation, the 4 most important areas, that a sports scientist is working with, are covered.
Starting from the performance methodology of the team, where in cooperation with coaches we are creating the team’s physical and tactical profile. The second part is the monitoring cycle where through daily monitoring we are preparing our players to play the game, third is testing where we profile physically our players and fourth, research which lately play crucial role in big clubs success, as always we are looking to have a competitive advantage from our opponents.
Enjoy!
